Presentation


Vi arbetar med ekologi i ett storskaligt perspektiv. Från att ha varit en vattendragsinriktad grupp delar vi numera vår forskningstid ganska lika mellan rinnande vatten och skog. Vi vill ta fram och förmedla kunskap så att vatten och skogar används på ett förnuftigt sätt.

Vi studerar därför många av de processer som påverkas när landskapet utnyttjas av människan. Det hjälper oss att förstå effekterna av människans ingrepp och att ge förslag till hur dessa effekter kan undvikas eller lindras. Vår forskning kan indelas i tre huvudområden:

  1. Hur landskapet och dess vegetation formas av naturliga processer.
  2. Hur människan påverkar dessa processer genom exempelvis älvreglering och skogsbruk.
  3. Hur landskapet ska skötas och förvaltas för att långsiktigt bibehålla sina värden. Här ingår också restaureringsekologi.
