''Climate change ecology''. The primary focus of scientific inquiry concerns responses of ecological systems, species and landscapes to past and recent climate change and variability. The principal study object, the alpine tree-limit, constitutes a very sensitive biological indicator of climatic instabilities at videly different time scales
